Costs and help paying

Recreational fees confirmed this season: $120 to $160 at Kidsports (Scholarships and fee discounts available (apply through Kidsports)) and $162 for the i9 Sports (Southern Willamette Valley) winter league.

Park district fees are shown on each registration page rather than on the listing; the cards link to them.

How to choose

First season or committed player?

For a first season, a recreational league or a park district clinic is the usual start: no tryout, a short season, and teams built around grade and school. Kidsports and the park district programs are organized this way. Club programs expect prior experience and a season-long commitment, and they select players.

Time and travel

Kidsports teams practice once or twice a week after school or in the early evening at the child's school or a nearby one, and the park district clinics meet on weekday afternoons at the school. Club programs add weeknight training and weekend tournaments, some out of town. Ask how many weekends a season involves before you commit.

What tryouts mean here

A tryout means the organization decides who gets a roster spot. A placement evaluation means every registrant plays, and the evaluation only decides which team. The cards above show which applies when the organization states it; when it does not, ask.

Costs and help paying

The fee range between recreational and club basketball is wide. Kidsports states that scholarships and fee discounts are available; where any organization says so, the card shows it. Never assume a listing is no-cost because a fee is not shown; it usually means the fee was not posted or has not been confirmed.

How this page is made

Every age, fee, date, and status on this page comes from the organization's own page, recorded with the date it was checked; a fact without a recent check is labeled or left out rather than guessed. Program listings and this guide are maintained by Garrett Stembridge, founder and editor. Drafting tools help with wording; they never supply facts. Nothing on this page is paid placement.
