Cottage Grove Lions Boys Soccer 1-4 Marshfield

Marshfield pulled away from Cottage Grove for a 4-1 boys soccer victory Thursday evening, handing the Lions a tough road loss in Sky-Em League (4A) play. Cottage Grove, Oregon's Lions made the trip to face the Pirates but couldn't find enough footing on the road, falling by three goals in the final margin. The Lions got on the board once, showing some fight, but Marshfield's offense proved too much to contain across the full 80 minutes. The loss drops Cottage Grove to 8-5 overall and 5-3 in league play. With the Sky-Em League standings tightening as the regular season winds toward its final stretch, every conference result carries extra weight. The Lions still sit at a respectable .500 mark in league play, and a strong finish could keep postseason positioning within reach. Cottage Grove will look to bounce back quickly and protect its spot in the standings when they return to action next week.
