Cottage Grove Lions Boys Soccer 0-0 Marist Catholic

A scoreless stalemate on the road ended in a 0-0 tie Tuesday night as the Cottage Grove boys soccer team played Marist Catholic to a draw in 4A-4 Sky-Em League action. The Lions, based in Cottage Grove, Oregon, made the trip to face the Spartans and left with a hard-earned point in a game neither side could break open. With no goals to show for their efforts, both defenses clearly controlled the afternoon, holding firm through the full 80 minutes. The result moves Cottage Grove to 9-5-1 overall and 6-3 in league play. The Lions had entered the match with a 9-5 record, and while they will not celebrate the tie as a win, picking up a road point against Marist Catholic in a league contest carries real value as the postseason picture comes into focus. Cottage Grove will look to close out the regular season strong and secure favorable positioning heading into the 4A playoffs.
