Cottage Grove Lions Girls Soccer 0-8 Scappoose

Scappoose handed Cottage Grove a tough 8-0 defeat Wednesday in non-league girls soccer action, as the Lions traveled north from Cottage Grove, Oregon, for one of their final tune-ups of the fall season. The 4A-4 Sky-Em League program was tested against a sharp Scappoose side that controlled the match from the opening whistle, building a commanding advantage the Lions could not overcome. Because this was a non-league contest, the result does not affect Cottage Grove's conference standing. The Lions enter the postseason stretch with an overall record of 7-6-2, a mark that reflects a competitive campaign against a challenging schedule that included road trips well outside Lane County. Wednesday's scoreline was difficult, but the experience of playing a physical opponent in an unfamiliar environment can carry value heading into playoff preparation. Cottage Grove will look to regroup and close out the season on a strong note as the postseason picture comes into focus.
