A high-scoring affair at McKenzie High saw the home team fall to visiting Pilot Rock 8-5 in non-league softball action Friday afternoon. The loss drops McKenzie to 4-5 overall while maintaining their perfect 2-0 conference record.

Both teams found success at the plate in what became an offensive showcase, with 13 total runs crossing home plate. McKenzie battled throughout the contest but couldn't quite match Pilot Rock's production in the later innings.

The non-league setback provides valuable experience against outside competition as McKenzie continues to build momentum in conference play. With their league record still unblemished, the team has positioned itself well for the heart of the spring season.

Friday's game highlighted areas for improvement while showcasing the offensive capabilities that have helped McKenzie stay competitive early in the season. The experience gained against quality non-league opponents like Pilot Rock should serve the team well as conference competition intensifies in the coming weeks.
