A late rally wasn't enough for Oakridge as the Warriors dropped a heartbreaker to Illinois Valley, 5-4, in Thursday's non-league baseball contest in Cave Junction. The Warriors entered the game with momentum after a strong 5-2 start to the season, but found themselves in a back-and-forth battle against the Cavemen on their home diamond. Despite generating enough offense to score four runs, Oakridge couldn't quite match Illinois Valley's firepower in what proved to be a one-run thriller. The loss drops the Warriors to 5-3 overall as they continue to navigate a challenging early-season schedule. While the defeat stings, Oakridge has shown resilience throughout the young campaign and demonstrated they can compete with quality opponents on the road. The Warriors' ability to stay in the game and nearly pull out a comeback victory speaks to their competitive character. Oakridge will look to bounce back quickly as they return to action next week, aiming to get back in the win column and build on the positive elements from Thursday's competitive effort.
