Marist Catholic Spartans Boys Soccer 1-3 Marshfield

Marshfield pulled away for a 3-1 victory over Marist Catholic in a Sky-Em League (4A) boys soccer matchup Thursday night on the Coos Bay coast, handing the Eugene, Oregon, squad its first conference loss of the fall. The Pirates outscored the Spartans across the evening to claim a result that tightens the league standings as the regular season enters its final stretch. Marist Catholic, which entered the night at 10-2-1, falls to 10-3-1 overall and 6-1 in league play after the setback. Despite the loss, the Spartans remain in strong position in the Sky-Em standings, having built one of the more impressive overall records in Class 4A this fall. A one-goal response on the scoreboard shows the offense stayed engaged even as the deficit grew. Marist Catholic will look to regroup quickly with postseason seeding on the line in the remaining regular-season games. Their next opportunity to strengthen that conference standing comes next week back in Eugene.
