Mapleton Sailors Softball 7-11 Taft

Mapleton's softball team couldn't quite keep pace in a high-scoring affair, falling 11-7 to Taft on the road Friday evening in league action. The loss snaps what had been a strong start to the season for the Sailors, who entered the contest with an 8-2 record.
Both teams found success at the plate throughout the night, combining for 18 runs in what became an offensive showcase. Despite the setback, Mapleton showed resilience by putting up seven runs against a tough Taft squad that capitalized on key opportunities to pull away.
The defeat moves Mapleton to 8-3 overall and 3-3 in conference play, leaving them squarely in the middle of the league standings as the regular season winds down. With several games remaining, the Sailors will need to bounce back quickly to secure a favorable position heading into the postseason.
Mapleton returns to action next week looking to get back on track and build momentum for the final stretch of the spring campaign.
