A solid pitching performance and timely hitting carried Mapleton to a 4-1 non-league baseball victory at Monroe/Alsea on Tuesday afternoon. The Sailors from Mapleton, Oregon improved to 8-5 overall this 1A spring season with their fourth win in five games.

Mapleton built an early advantage and never looked back against the home team, using strong defense and clutch two-out hitting to control the contest from the middle innings forward. The Sailors' pitching staff limited Monroe/Alsea's scoring opportunities while the offense manufactured runs when needed most.

The victory continues a strong finish to the regular season for Mapleton, which now sits at 5-1 in conference play. Head coach praised the team's road mentality and ability to execute in pressure situations away from home.

With just a handful of games remaining before postseason play begins, the Sailors are positioning themselves well for a potential playoff run. Mapleton returns home later this week to continue their push toward the 1A state tournament.
