The Wolverines put on an offensive clinic Thursday afternoon, overwhelming visiting Cottage Grove/Yoncalla 15-0 in a non-league softball contest that showcased their championship potential. Willamette's explosive batting order generated runs in bunches while their pitching staff maintained complete control throughout the shortened game.

The lopsided victory improves Willamette to 7-1 on the season, continuing their impressive start to the 2026 spring campaign. The Wolverines have now outscored opponents by wide margins in recent contests, demonstrating the depth and talent that could carry them deep into postseason play.

Against the Lions, Willamette's balanced attack left little doubt about the outcome from early innings. The mercy-rule victory allowed the Wolverines to rest key players while giving bench contributors valuable game experience.

With just one loss through eight games, Willamette has established itself as one of Lane County's premier softball programs this season. The Wolverines will look to maintain their winning ways as they prepare for upcoming league competition that will determine their playoff positioning.
